Construction Industry Payment And Adjudication Bill (CIPA)
The CIPA Bill has been presented to Parliament for its first reading. The Bill is expected to be tabled in Parliament in March 2012. The Firm's 1st Chambering Pupil completes his chambering and takes up employment with the Firm
Mr Vishal V Kumar has completed his chambering with Messrs James Monteiro and was called to the Malaysian Bar in Alor Setar, his home town, on 8th December 2011. Vishal has accepted an offer from the Partners to join the Firm as a legal associate with specialisation in alternative dispute resolution.0

Ms Tina Ann Francis joined the firm on 1st December 2011 as a legal associate. Tina was admitted to the Malaysian Bar on August 2010 and has been exposed to both conveyancing and banking matters in her previous practice. Tina's focus will be on litigation.0
New Competition Legislation for Malaysia
The Competition Act 2010 and the Competition Commission Act 2010 came into force on 1st January 2012. The Acts were passed to promote economic development by promoting and protecting the process of competition, thereby protecting the interests of consumers and to provide for matters connected therewith.
